2009-10 Audition Information and Deadlines:

AMERICA'S PREMIER A CAPPELLA VOCAL ENSEMBLE

CHANTICLEER

An Orchestra of Voices

IS ACCEPTING AUDITION TAPES & RESUMES FOR THE FOLLOWING VOICE-TYPES:
Countertenor, Tenor, Baritone, Bass

Founded in 1978, San Francisco-based Chanticleer annually performs 20-25 Bay Area concerts, and tours an average of 25 weeks across the U.S., Europe and Asia. Chanticleer's wide-ranging repertoire includes Gregorian chant, Renaissance, pop, jazz, gospel and contemporary commissioned works. Chanticleer has a total of 30 recordings released under the Teldec Classics International and Chanticleer Records labels. Chanticleer offers full-time, salaried positions (starting high $30s) with benefits. For preliminary auditions, we require the following:

  • A current resume
  • CD or high-bias cassette (CD Preferred), recorded on one side containing:
    1. One art-song/aria in a foreign language
    2. One non-classical selection (e.g., jazz, folk song, popular, show tune)
    3. Scales and arpeggios demonstrating vocal range
  • One photo
Note: CD or cassette must be labeled with applicant's name and voice part and date/place recorded.

List recorded selections on the liner card. Materials submitted will not be returned.

Application materials due November 21, 2008
Finalists notified by January 16, 2009
Finals held in San Francisco February 13 - 15, 2009
