BEN JOHNS, baritone, grew up performing for the Sacramento Opera, Sacramento Music Circus, and Galena Street East. In 2003 he graduated cum laude from the University of California, Irvine with bachelor's degrees in Chemistry, Dance and Vocal Performance. Mr. Johns funded his university education by proofreading biochemical patents, with supplemental help from the Tom and Elizabeth Tierney, the Mary and Philip Lyons, and the Ann and Gordon Getty Foundation scholarships. While living in Southern California, Mr. Johns danced for the Anaheim Ballet and The Glory of Christmas, sang for the Crystal Cathedral Choir, and toured with Men In Blaque. These days he enjoys entertaining his colleagues with impressions of birds, elephants, gibbons, and early 90's rappers. When he's not shuffling around the globe (as only a clogger can), he plays frisbee and tennis with his wife, Anne, near their new Marin apartment. The Larkspur Ferry commute provides him with the perfect welcome into this, his third year singing in Chanticleer.
