Singers

MICHAEL MATCH, soprano, is a native of Niles, Ohio and earned his Bachelor’s degree from Youngstown State University in 2001. He completed a Master’s degree in vocal performance from the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University, and will earn the Doctor of Music degree from IU in 2008. While at IU, Michael was also an Associate Instructor in voice and a member of the Pro Arte singers. Operatic roles have included the title role in Handel’s Serse, Sesto in Giulio Cesare, the Shepherd Boy in Tosca, and the Witch in Hansel and Gretel. In 2006 he made his professional debut as the Sorceress in Dido and Aeneas and also created the role of Mirze in Thamos King of Egypt by Halim El-dabh for Cleveland Opera Circle. Michael has also received awards from the National Association of Teachers of Singing and the Metropolitan Opera National Council. He is thrilled to be a new member of Chanticleer this season.
