JUSTIN MONTIGNE, alto, returns for a third season with Chanticleer.  He is one of three Chanticleerians from Des Moines, Iowa, where he received a bachelor’s degree from Drake University.  He went on to graduate studies at the University of Minnesota in the Twin Cities.  Mr. Montigne has sung lead roles in Albert Herring, The Dialogues of the Carmelites, The Tender Land, Il re pastore, The Merry Wives of Windsor, The Dangerous Liaisons, Don Pasquale, and Ariadne auf Naxos.  Concert appearances include The Creation, Mozart’s Requiem, Handel’s Messiah and Acis and Galatea, and relative rarities like Respighi’s Laud to the Nativity and Arvo Pärt’s Litany.  Mr. Montigne has sung with the Minnesota Opera, Western Plains Opera, Oregon Bach Festival Chorus, the Schubert Club of Minnesota, Exultate Chamber Orchestra, and City Concert Opera in San Francisco.  San Francisco has proven the ideal home for this vegetarian and yoga enthusiast, and his touring regimen includes pursuit of an elusive doctoral thesis, eating large ice cream creations, running, and a coffee in every port.
