MARK SULLIVAN, baritone, is pleased to return for his fifth season with Chanticleer. Before joining Chanticleer, Mr. Sullivan was based in New York City, where he performed and recorded with Early Music New York and served as Adjunct Professor of Voice at the Borough of Manhattan Community College. He has also appeared with the opera companies of Sarasota, Chautauqua, Central City and Glimmerglass. Concert stage appearances include Pilate in Jonathan Miller's staging of Bach's St. Matthew Passion (Brooklyn Academy of Music) and Variagian in Rimsky-Korsakov's Mlada with the San Francisco Symphony led by Michael Tilson Thomas. A native of Connecticut, he earned his Bachelor's degree from the Hartt School of Music in Opera Performance. He enjoys the unique distinction of having performed in Chanticleer with his wife Marguerite, one of the few women to have sung with the group.  In his spare time, he enjoys backpacking, swing dancing, and hacking his way through chamber music on the violin.
