792 kilometers from the mountainous south to the industrial north of Germany , starting in Austria on a lovely summer-ish day. Last night we had enjoyed the Carinthian's summer festival's rides, food, and conviviality. Some of us ended up with hats, and Adam has lederhausen which we won't see today because apparently you can't sit on a bus for 12 hours in them. A bus day like many others, food from Eric's inlaws throughout the day, reading study, games, talking, and, of course, the rest stop food. We're still a couple of hours short of our destination but this was as far as the bus driver could go today. In case any of you out there don't know why we do it this way: in the summer we're not in major cities, rather in towns, villages, and small cities far removed from airports. To do what we did today by air would have taken just as long, involved several bus rides and several planes, and a lot of stress and unpleasantness which we didn't have on our great big bus.
