The 15th ( and largest so far) session of the Louis A. Botto ( LAB) Choir has been performing a program called "Music of New Spain"  since March 13 at schools, retirement homes, the Berkeley Public Library, and the San Jose Mission ( in Fremont) which was back in the mission period famous for its music.  Narrated by Ben Johns, the program is both beautiful and informative.  LAB XV presented it today at the Kanbar Center's open house featuring groups who are tenants in the SF Girls' Chorus-owned building.  In the program are Villancicos which Chanticleer performs regularly, such as Riu, Riu Chiu, Xicochi, Xichochi, and others of our favorites such as Para dar luz, immortal.  There is a nice surprise in this program which is Manuel de Sumaya's Adiuva nos Deus which Prof. Craig Russell gave to us a few years ago and we have yet to perform.  LAB XV scooped us on the premiere!   LAB will be performing outside for the arriving audience at some of our forthcoming Mission concerts.
