There are so many ways to enjoy the Haut Savoie in France when we are lucky enough to perform for Musique et Nature en Bauges and stay in Aix-les-bains. AND have a day off there. Eric, Brian, and Ben had a wonderful time in a catamaran on the lake, benefitting from Ben's sailing expertise. Alan and Matthew took a major hike, as described by Matthew: Alan and I hiked 14 kilometers of the Crémaillère from Aix-les-Bains to Mouxy to Mont Revard. It was a line of railway track inaugurated in 1892 connecting Aix-les-Bains and Mont Revard, but was removed in 1937 in favor of a cable car. It is now an unpaved, stony path filled with 9 mains sites along the way. We passed by tiny, abandoned train stations, aqueducts, cow pastures, and flower fields. All of the hike was an ascent up the mountain, peaking at 5,125 feet. Fortunately, Alan's provisions of nuts, cheeses, and rotisserie chicken kept us chugging along. We were rewarded by a stunning view of the valley and Le-Bourget-du-Lac below. Voilá!
