For us collectively, and as individuals, singing in the Musikverein is an exceptional event. Not only is the hall (as Adam says) like a very, very expensive car that will do exactly as you want, the audience is equally unmatched in its fervor. Practically anyone can tell you that the Viennese audience is not to be be taken for granted. In our case, they're fantastically attentive and enthusiastically responsive from the beginning of our concerts. This was our third bi-annual invitation from Jeunesse Musicale; this time the concert sold out early - there were people in standing room and on the stage. Stepping on to this stage where Mahler stood so often - not to mention every great western musician ever - is always a thrill.
