Bye to Dale Warland, Hello Christmas!

Wednesday, November 23rd, 2011

We finished our happy collaboration with Dale Warland today. Vance George came by to hear some of the results.  Now Thanksgiving, and then the Christmas journey.

Meanwhile some LAB grads came by last Saturday to help us package some of our Love Story CD's (and play the new HALO Combat Evolved game). They did about 850 of them!  Thanks to them, hope all their Christmas concerts go well, and we'll see them in the New Year.

We were greeted by the Thomasville Education Foundation with this poster – which also hangs in our office- remembering that Chanticleer had been here before, in l986 and l997. Eric, of course, is the only one of us pictured.

The audience seemed to like us. We think "Love Story" is going well, and we're very pleased that people are liking the new Stephen Paulus set "The Lotus Lovers" and our new arrangement by Vince Peterson of Freddy Mercury's "Somebody to Love." The live recording of this concert is on its way soon. Meanwhile, we're off to Birmingham tomorrow.

Chanticleer on soundtrack of HALO re-issue

Tuesday, July 5th, 2011

We had the pleasure of working with the team over at Pyramind Studios in San Francisco on the remake of the iconic game, Halo: Combat Evolved. The singers joined the Skywalker Symphony Orchestra for a note-perfect rendition of the original score.

Microsoft Studios Senior Audio Director Kristofor Mellroth agrees, adding; “This wasn’t just a simple remaster, it was a completely new orchestration and recording using renowned talent and top live players. We are striving to create the ultimate love letter to Halo fans, and celebrate Marty O’Donnell’s and Michael Salvatori’s original vision with grace and style”.

Pyramind Studios’ production team rose to the challenge of bringing Halo Anniversary to life, and included some well-known video game luminaries on the Halo Anniversary music team including: Paul Lipson, Gregory J. Gordon, Matt Donner, Steve Heithecker, Tom Salta, Lennie Moore, Brian Trifon, Wataru Hokoyama, and esteemed vocalist Jillian Aversa.  Fans will also appreciate new live guitar performances by Bryan Dale, and the roster of Grammy-winning talent including Skywalker Sounds’ Leslie Ann Jones and the singers of Chanticleer performing the famed Halo Monks choral melodies.

Tree of Life Poster

Answer:

We're all in Terence Malik's "The Tree of Life" which won the Palme d'Or at Cannes over the weekend, and will open in the U.S. soon.  A track from our Grammy(R) award winning CD  "Lamentations and Praises" is in there somewhere… We're looking forward to June – Chorus America will be here and the week after  60 or so singers from all over will join us for Chanticleer in Sonoma – our biannual workshop for adults.  Not to mention our concert series "Romantic Chanticleer."

Hey! We made a music video of Cells Planets. See it here.
