A long day of international friendliness, as we found ourselves part of a concert celebrating the first choral week of the Shanghai Spring Festival. There were groups from New Zealand, Russia, Slovakia, Estonia, South Korea, China, Finland, Chicago...many attired in national dress. We rehearsed our own numbers -we sang Chen Yi's "The Siren's Call," Shenandoah, and Over my head - which seemed to go over well - There were quite a few people in the choirs who knew us already, especially the folks from Bratislava where we've appeared on our last two European tours. There were hundreds of us, and not much of any where to park between the rehearsal for the tutti numbers - Va Pensiero and The Same Song (Chinese) and rotating in and out of a fairly small room for a Big Mac. This was our second Big Mac dinner of the week. The concert went off well, pictures were taken, and we are leaving for Nanjing in the morning ( most of us) to do it again.
