Tonight's concerts in Richmond (a double-header!) were a great success. The wonderful staff and clergy at St. Mary's Catholic Church had carefully planned every detail and seemed excited to have us in their space. After walking in and testing the acoustic, we could see why. It was a wonderful room for vocal music--at once reverberant, warm, and clear. The audience was enthusiastic and appreciative. One of Chanticleer's many Christmas traditions is to begin the concert by processing by candlelight (this year's processional is "Corde natus ex parentis"). Heretofore this season, fire codes have thwarted our plans, so we were happy to finally set the atmosphere appropriately by candlelight tonight in St. Mary's. It was a great evening and we hope to be back very soon. Jace
