Finally back on home turf at St. Ignatius in San Francisco where this Christmas concert has been going on since before all of us (even Eric.) It's good to be home in the space for which the concert program is always conceived.
Since St. Ignatius is a church and not a concert hall, however, there are always challenges, artistic and non-artistic - like the will call and bathroom situations. At the least tonight people didn't have to wait in line in the rain, but tomorrow they will!
Our staff has to manage all that. For our part we need to figure out how we are going to carol around the church in the second part so as to get closer to the audience upstairs and in the back.
It all came off very well. Somehow there's always a sense of Christmas being close when we're here in St. Ignatius. We'll be back tomorrow night as well. We were happy to have in the audience members of the choir from Jesuit High School ( who were in our Youth Choral Festival in October) who came from Sacramento for the concert.
Next at number 8 in the countdown, Michael McNeil is going to go to Latvia for his Christmas break. He has to overnight in Brussels on the way, so won't get there until the day after Christmas. Not as far as Dubai, maybe, but we've been in Latvia at this time of year - it's COLD. He'll need more than this little scarf...
