By Request is Chanticleer's first new studio album since Let it Snow in 2007. We’ve performed these songs all around the world, from Shanghai and Shenzhen to Vilnius, Vienna, Prague, Budapest, Paris and beyond, and in most of the 50 United States. Many audience members requested to hear them on recording, so here they are—from William Byrd to Daniel-Lesur to Erika Lloyd, representing the whole range of music we love to sing. Chanticleer’s beginnings in Renaissance music are represented by Byrd and Mundy. Our commitment to new composers shines with works by Chen Yi, Steven Sametz and Mason Bates. Our recent adventures into indie-pop resulted in an arrangement of Erika Lloyd’s Cells Planets, one of our most popular songs. We recorded at Berkeley’s Fantasy Studios and finished production at Skywalker Sound, here in California. We thank The James Irvine Foundation’s Fund for Financial Restructuring for its generous assistance in making this recording.
