CHANTICLEER TEAMS WITH SONOMA STATE UNIVERSITY TO OFFER FIRST

CHANTICLEER IN SONOMA CHORAL WORKSHOP

APPLICATION DEADLINE IS FEBRUARY 1 FOR AUGUST 11-14, 2005 SESSION

San Francisco, November 10, 2004--Chanticleer, the Bay Area's internationally acclaimed, 12-man

vocal ensemble, is teaming with the Sonoma County Choral Society at Sonoma State University to offer the first Chanticleer in Sonoma Choral Workshop on August 11-14, 2005.  The four-day workshop will take place on the campus of Sonoma State University (SSU). It is open to public application and is aimed at adult amateur choral singers who want to improve their skills.

The Chanticleer in Sonoma Choral Workshop is directed by Chanticleer Music Director Joseph Jennings and SSU's Director of Choral Music, Robert Worth.  They and the 12 members of Chanticleer will participate in coaching sessions, workshops, and demonstrations of rehearsal techniques, as well as more informal interactions with workshop participants.

The Chanticleer in Sonoma Choral Workshop is designed for chamber chorus or other choral singers at the university level and beyond. Participation is limited to 48; male and female singers are encouraged to apply. Admission will be determined by specific criteria, including experience, references, and vocal balance for the workshop ensembles. The application is available online by visiting www.chanticleer.org and clicking on Chanticleer in Sonoma Choral Workshop. The application deadline is February 1, 2005; admission notification will be mailed on March 1, 2005; there is a non-refundable $25 application fee.

Cost of the workshop is $275 ($175 for non-singing auditors, limited availability) plus an optional $210 lodging/meals/parking fee for those wishing to reside on campus. One unit of academic credit (from SSU Extended Education) may be granted for an additional $50.

The workshop is made possible in part by a grant from the Donald & Maureen Green Foundation.  The Donald & Maureen Green Music Center, a $60 million performing arts complex, is slated to begin construction in summer 2005 at SSU and is expected to open in late 2007.  It will feature a 1400-seat concert hall and a 300-seat recital hall. The Center also will host educational programs like the Chanticleer in Sonoma Choral Workshop.
