Prairie Home companion – what we sang

Sunday, January 13th, 2013
That was really fun!! For those of you who want to know, the songs we sang which were NOT parodies by Garrison Keillor were: Hinbarra – Michael McGlynn Temptation – Tom Waits. Both of those are on our recent live recording Siren’s Call – available from our website. We loved backing up Garrison Keillor in his hymn and singing the hilarious Les Mis sketch.. as well as making fun of ourselves in a parody of the Anvil Chorus from Il Trovatore…not to mention Garrison’s words to our Grieg… We’ll go on anytime Prairie Home Companion asks….

Yes, it was fun. Humor and music make lovely companions. Since Chanticleer is providing the entertainment, your misfortune is you can’t hear the live results. You sounded amazing tonight on Prairie Home Companion. Loved every minute.

It was fantastic to hear you live (my first time) at the War Memorial Opera House in SF! I’m still chuckling about the “Les Miserables” medley…
    Well done, Thank you!

The Les Miz parodies were amazing and totally fun. PLUS I got the treat of being introduced to your group — and I need to hear more and more of your wonderful sound!

There in the midst of one of the radio sketches emerges the angelically beautiful and soulful ballad Attics of My Life,a song written and originally performed by the Grateful Dead.Even in this context,as always,I find the lyric deeply moving and inspiring.Thank you for enhancing the beauty of such a wonderful song.
