BELOVED HOLIDAY CONCERT A CHANTICLEER CHRISTMAS WILL BE PERFORMED TEN TIMES ACROSS BAY AREA IN DECEMBER
San Francisco, November 21, 2006 – Chanticleer, the Grammy Award-winning 12-man a cappella vocal ensemble, will present its annual holiday concert 10 times across the Bay Area December 9 – December 22. Concerts will be held in San Francisco, Davis, Petaluma, Santa Clara, Berkeley and Carmel.
Among the favorites to be performed are Renaissance sacred music; familiar carols; Franz Biebl’s “Ave Maria” (Chanticleer’s most-requested Christmas selection); and a medley of spirituals arranged by Chanticleer Music Director, Joseph Jennings. Works by Herbert Howells, César Cui, and Arvo Pärt round out the program. A Chanticleer Christmas is an enduring part of the holiday celebration through its many live performances and broadcasts on public television. A DVD of this broadcast was released in 2003. This year, Chanticleer will make a return appearance on “The Today Show” on December 4, 2006.
A Chanticleer Christmas will be performed ten times in the Bay Area: December 9 at 8pm at the Robert and Margrit Mondavi Center for the Performing Arts at UC Davis; December 10 at 6:00pm and 8:30pm at St. Vincent de Paul Church in Petaluma; December 15 at 6:00pm and 8:30pm at Mission Santa Clara; December 16 and December 23 at 8pm at St. Ignatius Church in San Francisco; December 21 at 8pm at First Congregational Church in Berkeley; and December 22 at 6pm and 8:30pm at Carmel Mission.
