"America's a cappella pride and joy"

Founded in San Francisco in 1978, Chanticleer is known around the world as “an orchestra of voices” for the seamless blend of its twelve male voices ranging from countertenor to bass and its original interpretations of vocal literature, from Renaissance to jazz, and from gospel to venturesome new music.

During 37 globe-trotting, million record selling, Grammy winning years, 120 men have sung with Chanticleer.  Our story begins around a dining room table in San Francisco in 1978.

Meet Chanticleer's twelve singers, who come  to Chanticleer from 9 states and many different backgrounds to create a seamless ensemble.

Our mission of performing, educating, commissioning and recording is safeguarded by our Board of Trustees who faithfully  support and govern our 501(c)(3) non profit. A new generation of philanthropists will soon be "on board" thanks to the Rueff Boardships program.
