Every two years Chanticleer offers a Student Composer Competition to composers who are still in school.  We request pieces suitable to be sung by high school choirs.  The prize is that the piece is performed at a Chanticleer Youth Choral Festival, and published by Hinshaw Music if Hinshaw thinks it will be a good addition to the Chanticleer Choral Series.  In 2014 while a student at San Francisco's School of the Arts, Elio Bucky submitted "Shalom" which was a winner in that year's competition, and was performed in March 2015  by the combined choirs at our National Youth Choral Festival final concert at Davies Hall, conducted by Ragnar Bohlin.  The printed edition is now available! We hope that many choirs will sing it.
