The year after we created the Louis A. Botto (LAB) Choir for singers 14-20, our Education Director Ben Johns had another good idea.  Six years ago, then, was born Skills/LAB - an intensive week long program in August to help past, present and future LAB singers, and anybody who wants to become a better choral singer.   Skills/LAB singers work from 9am-9pm on skills, techniques and repertoire with Ben Johns and his staff.  (Yes that's former Chanticleer countertenor Dan Cromenes at the piano, above)  All this culminates in a final performance which will be on Saturday at First Congregational.  For the first time the ensemble will join in as singers, having participated in the past only as instructors. That will probably  help with the fact that this year's 53 participants include 40 women and 13 men.   Music director Fred Scott will also participate.
