A capacity crowd came to hear the results of Skills/LAB's very intensive week.  Along with all the skills building, the group took on quite a bit of repertoire.  We sang with them, and with the male group.  There was a group consisting of the 40 women, and a mixed group without us.   Ben Johns had four assistant conductors - Elias Berezin, Nicole Chin, Bill Duffy and Toran Davenport- who each conducted.  Composers represented on the program were Mozart, Thalben-Ball, Ives, Brahms, di Lasso, Ralph Vaughn Williams, Rossi, Janacek, Berlioz, Schubert ( his Mass in G) and of course what did we end with?  Franz Biebl's Ave Maria.  An impressive result for a week's work;  we congratulate the participants on their achievement.    Skills/LAB was our Education Director Ben Johns' idea.  He will be going to Eastman to pursue a PHD this year, but retains Directorship of the LAB program, so we'll see him back here soon.  We wish him well and thank him for the LAB program's successful first six years.
