Our Bay Area series really gets to be "A Chanticleer Christmas" when we can start the concert - as we like to do- by candlelight, and when we start to sing in the places where Chanticleer has always sung. In these locations, like First Congregational Church in Berkeley we are surrounded by people who have followed Chanticleer since the beginning, many who knew our founder Louis Botto, and all those who smile during the gospel medley, remembering when Joe Jennings used to sing his arrangements with us. As we head for St. Ignatius tomorrow night, Petaluma, Sacramento and the missions this week, it's like plunging deeper and deeper into the past we share with so many people. It's always so good to see them at this time of year. Meanwhile, of course new traditions are being created in Oakland and Los Angeles with people who now see us regularly there.
