It's rather like summer in San Francisco - mid 60's and grey, although here it also rains now and again. The train station being across the street from our hotel, some of us hopped a train for Hamburg, others took a turn around Kiel, and Eric was on deck to do an interview in German for NDR1.  Our only German speaker ( because his wife is German, and his two year old daughter is getting to be bilingual - actually tri-lingual - she speaks German and English at home and Spanish at day-care) Eric will be in a lot of demand while we're in Germany.

Kiel is the capital of the Schleswig-Holstein region, and a major port - huge cruise ships are parked right next to our hotel.  Historical features are the Rathaus, Opera House, and St. Nicholas Church.
