Southern blood runs hot still! The enthusiasm of the crowd at the Sotille even at first half was impressive. The sound in the hall was really lovely , and the presenter let us know about the restoration, which continues still. We would be happy to sing here anytime. Of course, in this beautiful city, we walked. As a native southerner (but primarily as an American) Charleston is a special place for me. The High Southern Culture is, of course, gorgeous to witness, but to walk down Meeting Street and visit the graves of two signers of the Constitution is as profound an experience as straining my eyes across the Harbour to see Fort Sumter. Charleston is a city where I feel the entirety of my heritage and a city where I understand myself more fully, the battleground of an off-and-on civil war as struggle to consciously reconcile all my paradoxes.
