After a packed and lively concert in New Britain, Connecticut we proceeded on over to Fairfield County.  Good to spend time where a number of us ( Casey, Michael, Adam) have lived and/or gone to college.  Our annual concert at St. Mark's in New Canaan had record attendance, including 39 students from Washington Adventist University who were in New York to perform, and came on up to Connecticut to see us.  Most of the students who would be in the Youth Choral Festival yesterday also came - that always makes for an energetic audience and gets them a bit prepared for spending the day with us.

The big finish of the Youth Choral Festival - hosted again by Darien High School - was all of us on stage singing Sydney Guillaume's "Kalinda" and Barber's "Sure on this Shining Night" ( accompanied at the piano by Matt Oltman.

Singers were chamber groups from Darien High School, Brien McMahon High School, New Fairfield High School, Weston High School.  We followed our usual Youth Choral Festival format - warmup, tutti rehearsal, eating, working, more rehearsing and the concert.

The heart of the day for everybody are the work sessions.  Since there were four choruses this year, 3 of us worked with each chorus.  They worked out, and the results were really on display at the concert.  It's a very difficult thing to accomodate suggestions and then implement them in performance a few hours later.  Congratulations to all the groups who had the courage to try out new things or changes at the concert!  We were very impressed.

Dinner and a little break before the concert.  Friends and relatives came through a pouring rain - the biggest audience for this concert that we've ever had.

A productive day, and new friends are made:
