Chanticleer has always been closely associated with the California missions, but this was the first time we have given a concert in the magnificent Santa Barbara Mission. Eric - who, as a native Californian, loves the missions and wishes eventually to have a house which resembles one has been waiting for Santa Barbara a long time. The beauty of the sanctuary and the acoustic made it a real thrill to be here, finally. We thank instrumentalists Lisa Grodin, Paul Hale, Craig Russell and Richard Savino for making it that much more wonderful. It's great from time to time to be more than just the 12 of us. We attracted a more than full house ( there was some overflow seating in a side chapel) of people who loved it. This mission does not present so many concerts; we thank the people there for all their help, espeically Brother Eric who we had last seen at the Mission San Miguel four years ago when we performed in the courtyard. Many people who had been on our 2008 tour and come back for this one have very special memories of our concerts at San Miguel and at the Mission Soledad. We hope to revisit those two next time.
